Cinco Ranch

This suburb of metropolitan Houston is rich in natural resources as well as history. It is located where the San Jacinto River becomes Old River, just to the south of Interstate Highway 10 as well as the Missouri Pacific Railroad. It is just eight miles outside of Houston in the eastern part of Harris County. This location makes it ideal for apartment hunters looking to avoid a large city, but who still desire access to a larger city for work or recreation.

Cinco Ranch is a new community that was built twenty-five miles to the west of Houston and just ten miles to the north of Richmond. You'll find Cinco Ranch in the northern part of Fort Bend county, in easy driving distance to either of these metropolitan areas. Cinco Ranch is a planned community that was founded in the mid-1980's. It features an ideal location for an apartment, particularly if you plan to work in either Houston or Richmond.

Before the community was planned, Cinco Ranch was an actual working cattle ranch that has roots deep in Texas soil. The ranch was begun by five families in the 1930's and gets it name from the Spanish word for "five." The ranch's main products were cattle and rice from its rice fields.

In 1984, the Cinco Ranch Venture purchased the Cinco Ranch and began developing the area for a community. This time, three partners started the venture, US Home, the Mischer Corporation and the American General Corporation. Before it was completed, American General Corp bought out the other two partners and continued the development on their own.

Cinco Ranch is a community that is part of a 7,200 acre plan that was designed by a development company called Newland Communities. There are currently eight schools in the area that are part of the Katy Independent School District and several other private schools and preschools.

When the developers planned this community, they made sure not to leave out plenty of things to do for the residents. There is a golf course that is sure to delight everyone from the casual golfer to the serious pro.

There are also several athletic centers that were designed to provide all the amenities of the city right in the community. To round out the offerings, there is still plenty of land that has been reserved for trails, allowing bikers, hikers and nature lovers a chance to experience the true beauty of Texas.

Currently, there are approximately 11,196 residents that are living in Cinco Ranch. Most of these resident commute to jobs in Houston or the surrounding towns. If you have a job in Houston, but prefer to live in a quieter area, Cinco Ranch has much to offer. The apartments in Cinco Ranch are well maintained and located in convenient areas.

Houston and nearby Richmond also offer a variety of attractions and things to do in the event you prefer to branch out a little. You'll be able to take in professional sports, enjoy tremendous stores and much more, all within minutes of your new home.

The developers of Cinco Ranch have done their best to provide a family atmosphere that is relaxed and peaceful, but still close enough to major cities for the residents.
