The Cumings family first owned the area that is now the town of Cumings, which is located about one mile north of Rosenberg, on State Highway 36 and Farm Road 723. Cumings is in the center of historic Fort Bend County and is primarily a residential community. The main street in the town is named for .W. Cumings and runs right through the entire subdivision.
The subdivision was first begun during the 1990’s and approximately 683 people call Cumings home. The majority of its residents commute to Houston or the surrounding cities.
Nearby Rosenberg features forty-seven churches, several businesses and a radio station. The annual Czech Festival is a popular event that draws visitors from all over the county to partake in the fun. Rosenberg is known for its rather low cost of living, friendly people and peaceful environment.
Just minutes from Rosenberg, you’ll find Richmond, Texas. Richmond is the county seat of Fort Bend County and features many different historical sites and attractions. Morton Cemetary is a popular historical site, and the MacFarlane Visitor Center is a great place to start learning about the history of Fort Bend County.
The Confederate Museum in Richmond is dedicated to memorabilia and information on the people who fought in the Civil War and how the towns were affected during this time. The Fort Bend Historical Museum is also located in Richmond and features great exhibits on the area.
The annual Fort Bend County Fair is a big draw and features livestock and exhibits from all over the county. Whether you want to learn more about the history of Fort Bend County, or you just appreciate the atmosphere of these communities, you’ll be able to find many different things to do.
Houston is also close by and offers many enjoyable diversions. Shopping is a popular pursuit and there are more than enough antique shops, clothing stores, jewelry shops and local artists to provide you with unique merchandise. Several excellent restaurants are located in Houston and you’ll be able to enjoy a day full of good food, great shopping and a lot of fun.

The Space Center is a great way to educated children about the US space program and Astroworld/Waterworld is a popular place to beat the summer heat.
