The first was built in 1831 and was made entirely of logs. A second courthouse was built in 1840, and resembled a one-story house. This courthouse was made entirely of cypress wood that is common in the area.
The third courthouse was built in the 1840’s and was a two-story building. Court sessions were held on the first floor at this time. The fourth courthouse was built in 1857 and was made of brick, financed mainly by the sale of land owned by Liberty County. A fire destroyed this courthouse and a new one was built in 1872 and was also made of brick. However, this courthouse fell apart quickly and was condemned just 18 years later.
The sixth courthouse was built in 1895 and remained a greeting place for many residents. A new courthouse replaced this one in 1931 and was expanded in the 1950’s.
