Twenty-four miles southeast of Houston, you’ll find the residential community of Greatwood, TX on US Highway 59. It is also located just five minutes from Sugar Land, TX in historic Fort Bend County.

Greatwood is a planned community that was started during the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. Newland Communications began the community and they have done some great work developing it.

Currently, you’ll find a golf course, country club, a civic center and several recreational facilities that were developed for the residents. These amenities offer residents a great way to get away from the stress of their busy lives and enjoy these luxuries right next to their homes.

Most of the 6,640 residents of Greatwood commute to Houston and the surrounding communities. During the 1990’s, the expansion of this area provided residents with a much needed break from big city life, without entirely removing the conveniences of Houston.

In addition to all that the community has to offer, Sugar Land is also a great place to visit. You’ll be able to join in the fun during the National Night Out Festival, which is celebrated every year in Sugar Land. There are also several historical sites where you can learn more about the history of the area and how it was important to the foundation of Texas, first as a republic and then as a state.

If you enjoy history, Fort Bend County is rich in opportunities to explore and learn. You’ll find historical sites and museums throughout the county, as well as the Brazos River, all within minutes of your new apartment.
