Liverpool

Liverpool is in Brazoria County, about fourteen miles from the town of Angleton on the Missouri Pacific Line. Brazoria County is very historical and there are many interesting towns and sites throughout the area.

Liverpool got its start as a trading post sometime around 1827. The first settlers arrived in 1834 and a schoolteacher was hired for the children in 1836. The actual founding date is listed as 1837 and it became a shipping point for the Chocolate Bayou, dealing mainly in hides, wool and produce from Stephen Austin’s colony.

The town gets its name from the northern English town that was named by Commodore Nelson. By 1846 a post office was built and operated until 1867, when it was discontinued. However, by 1879 it was re-opened and is still in operation today.

The population reached its highest point sometime after the Civil War, but has remained steady throughout the years. In 1906, it is recorded that there were four schools that employed three teachers and taught forty-eight pupils. Eight years later brought the addition of two general stores and a hotel to the town and the population increased to around 400 residents.

In 1920, the population fell once more, but the construction of a Monsanto pant in the middle of the 1980’s brought more residents into the area. The latest population estimate showed that approximately 396 people called Liverpool home.

If you enjoy living in a small community with a great atmosphere, Liverpool is a great place to find an apartment. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to explore not only Liverpool but nearby Angleton as well. Angleton is home to many different golf courses and country clubs, making it a favorite among golf enthusiasts.

You’ll also find many clubs, such as the Women’s Embroidery Club, that have been in operation since the late 1800’s. This is a great area to learn more about the history of Texas and the people that are still making its future possible. Angleton is also home to the annual Heritage Banquet, where you’ll be able to celebrate this history and the people that lived in the area when it was first settled.

The annual Tour of Homes in Angleton is also a popular event and showcases some of the most historic homes in the county. You’ll also be just minutes away from Houston and the many opportunities for fun you can find there. If you enjoy sports, you can stop by the Astrodome for a game and then head out to some of the most famous restaurants in Texas.

Commuters find Liverpool an ideal place to rent an apartment, particularly when they work in Houston. You’ll be just a short drive from your work and all that the big city has to offer, and you’ll be able to return to your peaceful community at the end of the day.
